CollegeCARE Ministries

CollegeCARE Ministries is a caring network for college students and their families. We work together to encourage and celebrate our college-age kids, and coordinate social and service activities to help them engage with each other and the church, with the goal to help grow their relationships with God and each other.

College Care Packages
Our college students are well into their spring term, so now is the time to especially remember and nourish them with care packages from their church family. We expect to send dozens of boxes this spring! If you would like to donate treats for our students, please place your items in the boxes marked “College Care Packages” in the Narthex on Sundays, March 20, April 3, and April 10 or deliver them to the church office during the week.

Suggested donations: Prepackaged goodies such as cookies, candy bars, crackers, cereal bars, soup, hot chocolate mix, instant coffee packets, tea, gum, Chapsticks, bookmarks, Post-It notes, or other items you think they would enjoy. Monetary donations (to help cover the shipping costs) are welcome and appreciated.

Packing Date (volunteers welcome): Sunday, April 17, 9:30-10:30 am

Mailing Date: Monday, April 18

Send Your Student’s Address
Parents: In order for your student, living at home or away, to receive a care package, please send a current address to the CollegeCARE Ministries team at collegecare.fpcah@gmail.com. Note: We will only send packages to students whose addresses we have received this school year, so please send your student’s 2015-2016 address. Please include your student’s mailing and e-mail address (so we can tell him or her to look for a package). The college students will thank you!

College-Age Mission Trip: August 3-7, 2015
College-Age Mission Week was organized by CollegeCARE Ministries to be a low-cost, easy-to attend set of activities for students to reconnect at church and serve and learn together in the world. The 22 participants enjoyed the positive experience of whichever of the week’s activities they attended.

Collecting Student Photos and Addresses
Each year, we collect photos for the CollegeCARE bulletin board and our students' addresses at school so we can send them cards and care packages. The photo display encourages the congregation to pray for our college students and welcomes them when they return over breaks.

Wanted: A 4 x 6 photo of each college student plus three pieces of information—student’s name, school, and something he or she looks forward to this school year. Also, please include the student's address at school and e-mail address.

Photos and information can be e-mailed to CollegeCare.fpcah@gmail.com or put in the CollegeCARE mailbox outside the church office.

Meet Director of Youth Ministries TC Anderson

TC agreed to be interviewed by one of our high school students for this video made just for college-age students. Check it out! Thanks Robert Kraybill for producing the video.

Collecting Ideas
You are invited to share ideas on what we can do for you, your students, and your family during the college years. In addition to college care packages, we like to send students cards from the congregation, organize a winter break college-age social, share information about their service projects and trips, keep in touch, and facilitate students' interaction with our church (for example, by hosting a senior high discussion about campus life and experiencing mission projects together.)
